DRESS TO IMPRESS

The dress is coming out again as the most reached-for fashion item this season. It’s pushing past the previous front-running denim jean and is emerging as the new queen of the closet - sending jeans back to the basics category and limiting their wear to errand-running and sporting events.

Although the dress remains popular, the silhouette is changing as we say “bye-bye baby doll style” and hello to pencil thin, curve hugging, va-va-voom shapes. Emphasis moves from the empire waist, which dominated 2007, down to the waistline; dresses now beg for a belt, sash, obi or tie. While hemlines fluctuate, knee-length is always appropriate no matter what the season.

For a comfortable alternative to the curve hugging trends, check out #289-869 on HSN.com. The Dress is available for $49.90 and comes in Zebra, Pink or Slate Gray.
